| My folks just celebrated their 50th anniversary. When I asked my mom the secret to their longevity, she said “Your father and I are best friends who only want the best for each other.” They’re very lucky. Today, it’s hard to find a connection like that. With widespread acceptance of divorce, and more people opting to deep-six each other instead of saying "Not Working Out Is Not An Option," few people enjoy that kind of relationship today. I admit I ache inside for a friendship like that.
